Presartan contains losartan potassium 50mg, a synthetic oral angiotensin II receptor (AT1) antagonist used in the treatment of essential hypertension in adults and in children aged 6 to 18 years.
How it Works:
Losartan blocks the action of angiotensin II, a powerful vasoconstrictor involved in raising blood pressure. By inhibiting the AT1 receptors in tissues such as the vascular smooth muscle, kidneys, adrenal glands, and heart, it promotes vasodilation, reduces aldosterone secretion, and helps prevent vascular remodeling.
